kane played questionmaster - 3 great types of respomse

kane chens father fiorst graduate from his village in guandong - spread power of edu

-what are barriers we have experiemced

anand - at edx you offer 3000 courses 15000 instructors - whar are obsacles to globa; sprtead

anand ed should be right fir all but global acceess sorely limited- anyone can pay video but not ed

we havemt thoufht about how to apply tech to every child, every lifelong learner

we try at edx - virtually for free from tsinghuahk haravard - up to 40 million leaners - so if we had the ewill could make the dent

usha as pneuroscience you study how kids reads - what are theoptimising obtacles- need awareness of social brain as real thing - so even though i helped with swedish app rto 20 countries- for younger age best tech helps their teachers or memtors

to anand how could edx support adults teaching youth

anand - teachers say i dont know how to apply blended learning

usharight younger kids need human -best if that humanknows how use tech- we have online course to trainnireachers how to use online in classroom

itt mumbai helping 10000 teachers learn how to use

t angeline camfed - you have helped 4.8 million african girls learn - barriers?

camfed also supports young women graduates

of ouur 4.8 min - 2.1 million supported by camfed alumni

188000 young women teachers now part of camfed -

-- buoild foward for equity - problem 1 52 million girls in africa out of school

usha are there mechanisms eg graphagate
yidan is trying to catalogu mechanisms in ne place that help with these tranfers
- look also uk foresight report

very hard to access online until you can read thats why angie correct put support in early

anands story workd bank few years ago- billions loan guarantees - much going for buildings - so anand why so much bricks/mortar cultute instea of buts and bytes - ie access electricity and internet
ciontet on internet now sufficcient - so access is big barrier - bits any bytes exponenial increase in access

===
kane how has covid affected your schools angelina
its been brutal- deepened structural inequalities- and long=term impactby gender, by location, by which grade being interrupted- my first problem worseningall barriers to girl inclusioj in edu poverty humger tween marriages/ etc
2nd worry - immense digital divide - those without aceess -whole communitirsleft6 behind- 1 access 2 cost bubdles streaming data 3 cpmmunity infrastructure
3 lack of coherent investment - eg covid asks moreresources - eg some of our schools had no water before covid! but now is time to build forward; build equity into systewm

kane to we were talking about how to share ushas latest lessons learned - in magnitudes - what % of camfed schools have access tthrough tech to what usha can offere - angelina - in zimbabwe data costs to rual schools phebnomenal; then issue of smartphone hardware - minimum that workscovid proved we are one village - so interlinked--
angelina my own story i did bit see computer until i was 20
injstice is heartbreaking

yes du,mpng of tech can be problem  -also ;ead edge many community access levels ahead of basic- is there any global entity coordinating this evolution of access

anand if i haveto do my part - then ask whose doing their part - if you are being edu teachers - they can use edx
by 2025 everywhere will have mobile access by 2025?

usha reiterates point for youngest child beed the tools for the teacher

i am not hearing much about livelihoods education - for example if we wanted enough kids everyehere to become last mile health connexctors at what ages would they or their trwachgers access what- do we have deep ai curriculum on how every community can train enough local health c=building kids?
christopher macrae (You) 11:05 AM
going forward isnt the opportunity to end standard exam curricula and desig=gn experiemtisl learning at least for those from 11 up?

kane how has covid your owb work, what do you most need next yearto catch up from learning loss

usha we deal with eg in uk dyslexia and other learning difficulty children fall behind in virtual world- it might have been more equitable to suspend schooling for all- while thats not practical we need to think of catchup for those who losr most

anand covid has woken uo=p idea ofonliune learning from 3% online to 100% - the new normal must be blendied learning
on edx in april 2020 10-fold more online learners 5 million new swuvsvribers

kane irony of new changes adavantage of the prior advantaged
audiece q

what about tech to help students learn from fellow studnts and brrakdow geo barriers
anand absoultely peer learning can be great - on edx platform 150000 took first electornons course- on discussion forum i couldnt type fast enough - soon students startedanswreuing each other question s- i realised in few hours they could peer to peer learn within edx once the platform was there = teachers should syop jumping inbwithanswers and letthatorganic peerprocess

kane we are all working with different toolhits but the same magic poosibility for edu to grow world
whats the concteate action youmostrwant from global community
usaha sharing expertise neuroscience of early learenin- not yet sghared round teacher or paret world - erly play - how brain learns - learning dic=fficulties misunderstood- child is not lazy tries very hard but losesconfidence -

angie how do you answer- acess/qalty or what- keep edu on global agenda - collabvorate for edu equuity for every child - -understading our shated vulnerablity - yodan luminaries can be a council cross-disciplianry cross-grade cross-access - lets put equity into worldwide edu

anand - i have learnt tech fully or blended - yes ysha triple blend kid teacger tech
tech can be a demov=cratiser even if fosrt startedby rich
anywherewin wiorld can access delhi public swchool lwearmung

omcein a liftetime opp gieb by covid - united every "tacher" in trying online - any number of coleagures hate it unitil i tried it- for teachewrs best lessor forst online lesson -nthink of that''therifre teachers world over unbdertrained in blocnded - nce in fikeftime pp in next2 yests
