| Saving the Internet—and all the commons it makes The ninth and worst enclosure is the one inside our heads. Because, if we think the Internet is something we use by grace of Apple, Amazon, Facebook, Google and “providers” such as phone and cable companies, we’re only helping all those companies contain the Internet’s usefulness inside their walled gardens.
Not understanding the Internet can result in problems similar to ones

we suffer by not understanding common pool resources such as the atmosphere, the oceans, and the Earth itself.

Bezos story so far
in 1995 (seattle usa) bezos launched amazon the world's first major ecommerce web originally as a quick way to find books; there was a lot of hope that communities of customers would get a better deal-during sceond half of 20th c mass tv incraesed cost of advertising every year - americans were paying far more for the ads tghan the product cost in many markets and communities with unique local  enterprsies were squeezed out -see www.cluetrain,com

but soon most ditcoms were slaughtered for 2 kinds of reasons:
the big retil chuinas across america with theiur expensive malls went to war with the dotocms
many of the dotcoms were finaced by greedy ventire capitalists who werent r5eady for tech to catch up - eg consumers didnt get smartphones to 2007 and there was little trustworthy fintech

amazon survived as just about the only player in dozens of product markets- in the mid 2010s big retailers have been disapperaing - tere will be a sea chnage in neighboorhods- only really meda malls or very local ones are surviving

so tyhe knowhow of jeff bezos is second to none you can find ifr you are american- in 2018 amazon said it would look for 2 secod headqurets - a chnavce for 2 regions to really learn from bezos- among 200 cintenders it becaame clear that5 198 really had no chance - they didnt offer amazon an advantage tyhe way a head quarters alondisde washington or new york would- in what must be the craziest place development move ever long islanders said they didnt want amzon - so now arlington vgirginia advaject to washigton dc is with seattle the main space to learn from bezos

yet  bezos ecommerce was never edesigned as a job creating odel or one that would hep americans humanise ai - ironically asians led by jack ma took a decade longer to design eccoermce but have models that help every community thrive- so we welcome news on what to learn from bezos now the wprld riches man and what to learn from jack ma- now returning to a life of education and the un's ambassador ofr millennial youth job creation
